RIP MAE

                                                     RIP MAE 2004-2015

Mae passed away on April 16, 2015.  She had been in declining health for several months. She was happy, comfortable and she enjoyed her first love, her food until the end. Mae was estimated at a little over 11 years old but we feel she may have been older so it's possible she lived a normal Brittany life-span.
We received Mae in 2009 as an American Brittany Rescue owner surrender. Her adopted family  needed to find Mae a new home and we volunteered to take her in.   Mae had come to ABR as a stray wandering the streets in South Carolina.
During her initial exam with the vet after we got her it was determined she had a dislocated hip and she would need surgery. You wouldn't have known by the way she could run and jump that she had hip issues. She handled the surgery and recovery with true Brittany spirit. She never again had any trouble with her hip.
Like I said earlier she enjoyed her food. Feeding time was always the highlight of her day. She enjoyed her walks and time in the back yard where she liked to eat the dandelions. She was a good traveler but she liked it best when we left her in the care of the good people at Bed & Biscuits boarding.  She was always a good sleeper and enjoyed her time on the couch.  Mae was a sweet, gentle dog with no desire to be an alpha.  Being on the small side at 22lbs she took her share of knocks from the numerous foster dogs she shared her life with but she always took it in stride.  She never once growled or snapped at another animal or person.
She will be missed by all especially her Brittany sister Abby and our latest rescue, her Brittany brother and snuggle buddy Cody.
